Yes! Lowering the amount of trash put into landfills is extremely beneficial. Plastic takes hundreds of years to break down. Recycling and reusing waste can have a huge effect on our oceans and endangered wildlife.
How Do Landfill Gas Energy Projects Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions?
Monitoring and reducing methane emissions will go a long way in controlling the greenhouse effect. We can use the methane generated from landfills to produce electricity and/or residential heat.

What Are the Public Health, Safety, and Environmental Concerns Associated with Landfill Gas?
Methane has a much larger effect on the atmosphere than CO2. We need to monitor it and try to reduce emissions in order to mitigate the effects of climate change. Hydrogen Sulfide is quite stinky and can actually be poisonous in large concentrations.
Why do I need to monitor gas?
Many dangerous gases like Carbon Monoxide (CO) are odorless and colorless. Gas monitors can greatly increase safety inside buildings where such gases are stored.

How do I know if the sensor is powered and operating?

How Is Landfill Gas Generated?
Landfill gas is made from a process very similar to that of a human body. Bacteria break down organic material and the resulting byproduct is a mixture of methane, Hydrogen Sulfide, and other gases.

What are the sensor lifespans for Biogas Analyzers? In our Optimax and SWG 100 units the O2 cell will last between 4-6 years while the H2S and CO cells will last 4-5 years. The CO2 and CH4 cells will last the lifetime of the analyzer. For the GEM 5000 the lifespans are 3 years for the O2 cell and 2 years for the H2S and CO cells. The CO2 and CH4 cells will last the lifetime of the analyzer. Keep in mind the lifetime of the analyzer and NDIR components is highly dependent on the sampling environment, attention to maintenance and proper use of the unit. Moisture in the unit and on the board can negatively impact the reliability and lifespan of the sensors
